ShellExView  by Nir Sofer
System Utilities → System Tools → Shell Enhancements

ShellExView utility displays the details of shell extensions installed on your computer, and allows you to easily disable and enable each shell extension. Shell Extensions are in-process COM objects which extend the abilities of the Windows operating system. Most shell extensions are automatically installed by the operating system, but there are also many other applications that install additional shell extension components....

THis a great and useful program. I had a problem when Windows Explorer would shut down after 5 or so minutes. Then I had to open it again and agin. Its the famous windows explorer had encountered an error and must close. I used shellexview and one my one I disabled a shell extension, waited, explorer shut down again, then went to the next one in line, etc, until I found the right one. It turned out to be a video extension that was doing it. Try it.
