I've got a couple issues with this one so far.

Firstly, it's features claim;

"Small deployment stub (less than 100 KB including uninstaller)"

... so why is it's own installer alot larger? and why have they opted to have their installer packaged inside a .zip file?

Secondly, for some as yet unknown reason, they've passworded the file's in their installer, making extraction impossible via the likes of Universal Extractor (I prefer to extract installers prior to installing them, as it helps with analysis and subsequent determination of a file's malware status (e.g. whether or not they themselves are malware, or bundle malware such as RelevantKnowledge, WhenU etc))

For interested parties, though the run timed out on the sandbox, a partial analysis of this installer is available via Anubis;

You're allowed that Steven, it goes with the sparkler (Ooops! showing my age there, guess that should be 'bling"!) you just adorned your lady with ;-)

BTW congratulations!

1. "Small deployment stub (less than 100 KB including uninstaller)" . Stub means the executable module that carries all the jobs. In other installers, that's much much bigger, up to 500 kb. I didn't state that all the installers will have 100 kb after compression. That's impossible.

2."Secondly, for some as yet unknown reason, they've passworded the file's in their installer, making extraction impossible via the likes of Universal Extractor (I prefer to extract installers prior to installing them, as it helps with analysis and subsequent determination of a file's malware status (e.g. whether or not they themselves are malware, or bundle malware such as RelevantKnowledge, WhenU etc)) "
As you can see on my page, the program is spyware free. Also, the files inside as password protected to avoid casual unpacking by thisrd parties, but this will be removed in a new version.

No reason :). I just wanted to follow a standard on my page, that's it. You can see that even compressed, the installer has the same size.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please e-mail me at support@bytessence.com and i'll be happy to help.

I don't disbelieve this, but thanks for removing the passwords in the new version. Once released, I'll re-try it :o)

@Dee,
hehe, cheers ;o)

I didn't want to sound like i'm attacking or anything. It's my duty to explain what happened there. At first, I made this program shareware and it had a feature that I removed, it could be able to create installers that asked for serials. Many installer suits have this but I ran into some problems and had to remove it. The whole password stuff had to protect the contents, not to let unregistred users to unpack the data inside. However, i forgot to take this out in the new code as it became freeware. You are right, some can abuse this "glitch" and they can put malware inside the installers. People must have the right to know what's inside.

I know this tool isn't professional, but I just started 1 month ago, i'm new to this land and there is definately place for improvements. Many thanks for the suggestions, I will take care of them ASAP.

Cheers!
