[b]It is a wonderful idea, but the downloading of this program, is not very user friendly. No, I am not a newby, have owned and have used every day my PC since 1999.......after I downloaded, I tried to open, to no avail, rec'd error message stating that the file was either corrupt, or had a virus.

I downloaded DataCrow about 3 days ago. I have been extremely frustrated with it ever since. I do software testing for a living, so I'm a little picky, but this was really troubling. There are lots and lots of little bugs in this program. Focus/Front Window does not follow the same rules every time. But that was only annoying.

My big problem was with Java. It ate my processor! 100% maxed out from about 30 seconds after the program finished launching (which took over a minute) until several minutes after hitting close (it took more than 3 minutes to close!). I have to assume the long, long, long processing time for each UPC you entered was parsing. The entry rate was between 15 seconds to two minutes (more if there was a problem) per DVD.

I finally gave up tonight after taking two hours to finish off the stack of 10 leftovers from last night. I cruised around and found a great little program that downloads DVD information from the web faster than I can type the UPC. I'm afraid that DataCrow is just not going to work for me. I'm going to export the 250 movies I took 3 days (maybe 15 hours?) to input and import them into MovieManager. I figure I can put the other 600+ movies in another two days, maybe less.

It works great for me! I have about 5000 software items in it and about 400 Audio CD's and it still works fast (it's version 3.4.2 I'm using). I had some small issues in the past, mailed the developer and he fixed my problems in the next version. I even have created a module of my own.

Note to Juggler: are you sure you allowed the Java program enough memory? Running with the default Java options will cause the program to have very limited amount of memory: java -Xmx256m -jar <jar file> should solve all your problems! Did you contact the developer about your issues?
