Yeah, I'd like to be able to open your .dia on my screen too and see the password in plain text ;)
The reason for a password is to protect.
Anything that's on a computer connected to the internet is approachable, regardless what firewall you use (though a hardware firewall does make it a heck of a lot harder) and I bet you wouldn't want it to be readable in plain-text once that happens.
Now, on a more specific note, the software uses a file-based relational database.
This in itself might be another way to circumvent the password protection, but I haven't looked into the specifics yet.
Bottom line, I don't use this software to store any big secrets, and for the stuff that I'm using it for, it does what it promises to do very well.
