This game hasn't rated as highly as my later tic-tac-toe style games. The AI was a bit clunky and it is still beatable even one level 3.
I've finally written an unbeatable AI for tic-tac-toe that appears in my latest tic-tac-toe style game W-M-D. I will retro-fit the new code to the old tic-tac-toe game so you can have the new improved AI in the older version. I'll try and find the time to do it over the next few weeks.

I have uploaded version 2 and updated the listing on this site. I see the old version only got three votes and two stars. I'm sure this one is worth a higher rating. You will never beat it on level four.
This game a has a large number of game options and new features. You can select to play as X or O, the computer can autoplay both sides. If you select autoplay and auto new game then you can just sit back and watch game after game playing itself.
Improvements like the auto new game option were suggested by members of the public who wrote in about it. One person likes to play it during board meetings. He asked if it could also keep score as to how many games each side had won, another feature I've put on.
I think this freeware game is easily as good as any tic-tac-toe you might pay money for. It is amazing to look over the net for freeware tic-tac-toe game and see how few of them there actually are. Most seem to be shareware or nagware.
I've tried this game against some other tic tac-toe games out there and on this site. This one holds its own well on level four.
