PolyEdit Lite  by PolySoft Solutions
Business and Productivity → Word Processing → Word Processors

PolyEdit Lite is a free word processor that lets you handle a wide variety of word processing tasks. It is designed to be lightweight, reliable, easy-to-use and extremely fast. All the expected functions are featured, including the usual text formatting tools, search and replace, support for images and objects, and much more....

Polyedit doesn't do footnotes, an essential if you are a student. And it doesn't import OpenOffice documents even when saved in Word format, so can't switch from OpenOffice to PolyEdit if you wanted to get rid of that 300+ MB existing file from OpenOffice, rather than update to their now 600+ MB file... tons of junk in your HD for nothing if all you do is type.

As you can see prguide it did no such thing it posted twice! I'm *guessing* that you didn't fill in a name you just clicked 'Post message' which took you to a page that asked you to fill in a name + copy the anti-spam captcha box contents. The page you then got had 3 choices:
Return
Return to the topics list
Return to the forums list
Only the first choice would have taken you back to your already displayed post ;-) OK so our forums are a bit basic but at least you always get a reply if you ask a question!

You should take a look at "Notalon" it's designed to make taking Cornell notes faster and easier. This may not be exactly what you're looking for but it might be better than a pure word processor.

We have several other programs that might be suitable listed here.
