doPDF by Softland Business and Productivity → Word Processing → PDF
doPDF installs itself as a virtual printer driver so after a successful installation it will appear in your Printers and Faxes list. To create PDF files, you just have to print your documents to the doPDF pdf converter. Open a document (with Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad or any other software), choose Print and select doPDF....

This is NOT freeware, it is nagware. It puts a notice on each page that this PDF was created by it, urging you to purchase the full version.

Ralph before I listed this program I found at least one review that said "doesn't contain any annoyances (ads, footer notices...). Their website FAQ page specifically says...
Is doPDF really free?
Yes it's free for both personal and commercial use. Has no watermarks, ads, or other annoying limitations.
Are you sure what you saw wasn't just a transient "nag"?
(I'm sorry I simply do not have time right now to install it & see for myself)
In any case it doesn't mean it isn't FREE & it's a small price to pay for a PDF creator. Have you seen the cost of the shareware ones?!?! :(

Check the Alt.Comp.Freeware forum there's at least half a dozen references to doPDF including recommendations for it & NOT ONE WORD of criticism!
Trust me, if this wasn't true freeware that group would be screaming blue bloody murder!

This is a definite ***** Dee's Pick!
I've just updated this listing & allowed it to show on our new additions page. I have it installed on my XP home & pro systems & I highly reccommend it. doPDF is a great little (1.6 M) program that just WORKS! No nags, no watermarks, it just creates a PDF file then automatically opens it in your default PDF reader so that you can see what you've got.

Just as a side note, I would observe that OpenOffice has an option to export documents to PDF format, and it produces a fully-compliant PDF output which can be used by printing houses for their offset printers. I worked on a local political campaign recently, and the shop that produced our fliers required PDF files as input, with all the formatting present (not just a jpeg rendering of the content). OO did this perfectly.
Mind you, OpenOffice is a *HUGE* download, you wouldn't want to install it just for this purpose, but if you already use it anyway, you have a superb PDF generator already on your machine.

Thanks derelict I didn't know that!
I used to use OO but then bought a system that has MSO installed but I'm about to set up a spare laptop & had already downloaded OO for it ;-)

@Dee
Why doesn't your recommendation show on the listing page of dopdf in bold, like it shows for Foxit?
