| Parted Magic is a LiveCD/USB with it's only purpose being partitioning hard drives. Although GParted and Parted are the main programs, the CD/USB also offers programs like partimage, testdisk, fdisk, sfdisk, dd, etc. By default, Parted Magic boots (from CD, USB drive, or PXE) to a live version of Linux (including a low-ram version) and provides access to the aforementioned GParted partition creator and editor, a system profiler, several imaging utilities, a benchmark utility, ISO image editor, a couple of file managers, and a host of other utilities. Linux understands the FAT, NTFS, HFS, and HFS+ and most other file systems now so you can use Parted Magic to copy files to and from your Windows or Mac hard drives. If you have an unbootable operating system and need to get those vital data files off, one of the file managers on Parted Magic will come to your rescue. Features include: Format internal and external hard drives; Move, copy, create, delete, expand & shrink hard drive partitions; Clone your hard drive, to create a full backup; Test hard drives for impending failure; Test memory for bad sectors; Benchmark your computer for a performance rating; Securely erase your entire hard drive, wiping it clean from all data; Gives access to non-booting systems allowing you to rescue important data; Runs from the CD, no install required.
