Use File-Extensions Search when Windows tells you it cannot open your file because it does not recognize the file extension. Easily find information about a file extension and the software it is associated with. This free application gives you quick access to the File-Extensions.org database. You will be able to directly search for extension information from a simple Windows dialog box by double-clicking on any unknown file. Alternatively, you can use the new Windows context menu option that can be displayed by right clicking on any file.

Classic Shell is a collection of features that were available in older versions of Windows but not anymore. It brings back the classic start menu that Windows 7 doesn't support, adds a toolbar for Windows Explorer in Vista and Windows 7 like the one in Windows XP and adds a couple more smaller features. "Classic Start Menu" is a clone of the original start menu, which you can find in all versions of Windows from 95 to Vista. It has a variety of advanced features including skins. "Classic Explorer" is a plugin for Windows Explorer that: Adds a toolbar to Explorer for some common operations (Go to parent folder, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Properties, Email). More buttons can be added manually. Send To Toys is an enhancement of the Send To system menu. Send To Toys Control Panel Applet allows you to manage the Send To system menu content, and configure the various Send To Toys settings. "Add to Send To menu" and "Remove from Send To menu" allows you to personalize the Send To system menu for drives, folders, and programs. Send To "Clipboard (as name)" copies the name of the file or files to the clipboard. Hold down the CTRL key to change the settings for this extension. Send To "Clipboard" command line utility copies the output of a command to the clipboard. Type SENDTOCLIP /? at the command prompt for more information. Send To "Command Prompt" opens a DOS console window, setting the current directory to the selected folder. If the selection was a file, the folder containing the file will be the active directory and the name of the file will be typed for you at the prompt. Hold down the CTRL key to change the active directory to a different folder. Hold down the SHIFT key to force the use of the COMMAND.COM regardless of the Windows version. Send To "Default Mail Recipient" creates a new e-mail with attachments and predefined defaults for the recipients, subject, and message. Hold down the CTRL key to change the settings for this extension. And much more....!

File Extension Changer .NET integrates into the context menu of files and makes it simple to change file extensions. You can obviously do it manually in Windows but in that case either you have to enable the property of displaying file extensions which will make them always visible or use other techniques like Command Prompt and type it out manually. File Extension Changer .NET avoids both and provides an easy way to do it. Furthermore, it does not install any shell extensions for context menu integration instead it uses the registry. Thus your system resources are not used unnecessarily.

The ShellExView utility displays the details of shell extensions, installed on your computer, and allows you to easily disable and enable each shell extension. ShellExView can be used for solving context-menu problems in the Windows Explorer environment (Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers.) Shell Extensions are in-process COM objects which extend the abilities of the Windows operating system. Most shell extensions are automatically installed by the operating system, additional shell extensions are installed by applications (e.g. WinZip, PaintShopPro etc.) The ShellExView is a standalone executable. It doesn't require any installation process or additional DLLs. Just copy it to any folder you want, and run it. This program is also available in other languages, you will need to download the appropriate language zip file. A separate download for x64 systems is also available.

This program is an editor for shell objects. You can create new shell objects and delete them when you don't need or want them any longer. For safety reasons, it is not possible to delete shell objects that were not created with this editor by default. You have to switch to "expert mode" to delete other shell objects. What is a shell object? - The "My Documents" folder is a shell object. It is a special shell object, a shell folder. Shell folders are not real folders on your hard disk, they only refer to real folders. They are a kind of "hard links", a special type of shortcuts.

File Extension Changer integrates in the shell menu and makes it easy to change a file's extension. TortoiseSVN is an Open Source, easy-to-use SCM / source control software for Microsoft Windows and maybe the best standalone Subversion client there is. It is implemented as a Windows shell extension, which makes it integrate seamlessly into the Windows explorer. Since it's not an integration for a specific IDE you can use it with whatever development tools you like. Another advantage of this shell integration is that not only web or software developers can use it but all the people who don't have the development tools installed, for example translators, doc writers, etc. NOTE:the download page points to installers for 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems. Please make sure that you choose the right installer for your PC. Otherwise the setup will fail.

Context Menu Editor can view and delete links to programs on your context menus (the pop-up menus you see when you right-click). Context Menu Editor does not delete the programs, it just removes them from your menus. Menu deletions cannot be undone so please use with care - you may need to reinstall your software if you want them back. SendToAny extends the Windows Explorer 'Send To' context menu with all known links. This is accomplished by synchronising the Send To Menu with the Start Menu, Desktop and Quick Launch Menu. SendToAny allows any file (including files with no filename extension and files with a reserved extension) to be sent to any application, regardless of file-type association, or an applications' registration status. SendToAny resolves all types of links, including Microsoft Installer (MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc etc), which are normally invisible to the Send To menu.
