  Beep is a tiny command line utility for Windows computers that uses the internal PC speaker to make a notification sound. This can be useful in situations when you do not have a sound card or speakers are not connected or turned on. Typical usage is in batch scripts or similar to signal events. For example, I use it myself to signal when my PC has booted and launched all startup applications and is ready to use. Note: not all modern computers have an internal PC speaker. Some may use an integrated sound card instead. Some are just silent. Windows 7 seems to have removed this hardware feature all together for some unknown reason :-(

  DIMG - Advanced Disk Imaging Tools is a set of command line utilities for disk imaging. These work on device level and allow direct reads/writes on fixed and removable media. DIMG allows reading and writing raw disk images: either a whole disk, a partition, or a custom portion in sectors may be specified. WIPE securely erases data on disk, and CFRESET is a little tool for restoring the default partition table (one partition with all free space assigned) on compact flash (USB pen) drives.

The program tucks itself away when you're not using it. It AutoCompletes repeated commands and lets you define macros and custom actions. MCL is a really cool program. I wrote it for Windows 95, and I'm still using it today.

  QueryDACL is a tool for querying the ACL's (access control lists# and ACE's #access control entries) of files, services, registry keys, printers etc. QueryDACL allows you to quickly and easily see which accounts have what level of access to a particular securable Windows object without the need to open a GUI. QueryDACL can also investigate files, services and registry keys on other computers on the network. In an ordinary Windows installation, about the only tools you get to be able to view DACLs on the command line are cacls/icacls for files, and sc for services. Even then, the output is more or less cryptic unless you know what all the abbreviations mean. QueryDACL not only centralizes this functionality in a single application, it provides the results in plain English.

  RecycleNOW is a small utility that, when triggered, immediately empties the Recycle Bin. It is meant to be a time-saver as, especially on slower computers, emptying the Bin can take a while. There is no interface, just run it and it will automatically empty the recycle bin. You can use a scheduler to run it, run it from the command line etc. Very simple, but be warned: there's no way back, no questions asked, so be careful!

  SC-SplitMerge is a set of two executables, SC-Split and SC-Merge. With SC-Split any file can be split into parts with user-specified sizes. This comes in handy while dealing with for huge files. Another application of SC-Split is breaking a file into floppy disk size file parts. Use SC-Split to copy your huge file to multiple disks. Use SC-Merge to rejoin multiple files. SC-Splitmerge is command line based (it has no GUI).

  The Sleep Command is a command line tool which can be used to pause a batch file script for a specified amount of time. This can be useful when some time is needed between commands as batch files usually run quickly. Simply call sleep with the specified number of milliseconds you wish the script to pause. To use the the command, either place sleep.exe in the windows\system32 folder or place it in the same folder as the script. While this command does exist on some versions of Windows, most basic/home versions are missing this useful functionality.
