uToolbox FileSplitter Tool is a freeware utility useful to split large files of any type, up to 4 Gb, into a set of small files and join the small files to remake the original file. You can specify the number of small files to be generated from the original file. Enter (or browse to) the full path of the file to be split and then the folder path where you want the split files to be placed. uToolbox FileSplitter Tool will create its own meaningful folder inside the selected folder path, split the chosen file and place the smaller files into that folder. This will ensure that the tool will not disturb/damage any of the existing files/folders. uToolbox FileSplitter Tool is portable, there is no install just unzip the download file and click on the execute file to run the program.

TC Split is a file splitting utility, which will split any type of file. You can choose the size of the file pieces or the total number of pieces you would like to make, and the program automatically calculates the needed parameters. TC Split also automatically generates a batch file to easily rejoin the pieces into the original file with a double click of the mouse. (the program itself is not needed for rejoining operation). You can choose to keep the file pieces after rejoining, or the batch file can be created to delete the pieces after recreation of the original file. Easy to use and understand.

FileSplitter is a freeware and Open Source, no frills, tool to split up files into a specified number of chunks. FileSplitter will chop down your file into more manageable pieces in 4 clicks of your mouse. Also in the download package is FileUnite which does the exactly the opposite and reconstructs your file. Using exactly the same interface as the splitter means you don't have to learn to use two different tools, plus it automatically deletes all the pieces so you don't need to have 2 times the size of the original file free on your hard drive to unite them. Both programs feature a progress bar so you can see how far along the current operation is and how long is left until completion. No installation is required, just unzip the downloaded file.

With it you can also compare two files for absolute equality, generate checksums, and last but not least: glue the previously split file-parts back together again. Very useful for transferring large files onto disks or through networks! Now also available: the little counterpart of HJSplit. It's called...HJ-Join. HJ-Join is a small automatic file-joiner which can easily be distributed along with files which are split using HJSplit.

Have you ever tried to send a large file by email and find that the server would not accept attached files larger than 2 meg. File Splitter, splits a large file onto 1Mbyte files which can then be sent on separate emails. When received the program will join them back into one large original file. The sender and recipient must both have the program, but since the program itself is very small, this can be easily sent to the recipient via email.

TextWedge is an Open Source text-file splitter with an editor interface, or a text editor with a file splitting interface. It provides a number of splitting criteria: byte count, line count, hits on search terms, and the lines where the values of sort keys change. If you use it in "Preview" mode (virtual splitting), it can function as a multi-string regular expression search tool. Note that ALL operations occur against the editor contents, and that the original text file is only read once, when you execute "File | Load". This means that you can make any changes you like in the editor BEFORE you split, and the original file will be unaffected unless you explicitly save it.

» File Partitioner 2.0

File partitioner is a little program used to break a large file into a set of smaller files. Navigate to the file you want to break up, select the size you want the fragments to be. 1.38MB is usually the best choice if you want to save a big file on multiple floppy disks. Click create partial files, and in the same directory where the big file is placed will be generated files of the size of your choice, plus a .bat file to recreate the original file. Remember to always distribuite the .bat file together with the partial files!
