  Batch Tools & utilities for the MS-DOS operating system. These programs were developed in a Win9x environment, they run under plain DOS as well as under Windows 95/98 in a DOS window or full screen. Most of the programs will also work under the DOS emulation of Windows 2000/XP/7. (No chance on 64 bit systems.) For 32 bit batch tools see my CMD (32 bit) page.

  Pipelines is a multi-stream pipeline utility which allows you to modify the contents of a text file or files, quickly and easily. You can specify that only certain sections of a file are to be changed; you can confine those changes to a column, word or field range, translate words and phrases, discard or insert new lines of text. Pipelines builds on the concept of directing the output of one process to the input of another; commonly known as pipelining. However, Pipelines takes an extra step; allowing you to build multi-stream pipes, where the topology of the pipeline is no longer horizontal and linear, but two-dimensional; where the records travel up and down the pipeline chain, into and out of intersecting joints which control the flow of data. This mechanism allows you to construct pipelines which process data in a single pass without the need to buffer and/or sort the data to re-adjust record sequencing.

  EOL (End-Of-Line) is a Windows program that converts English language text files among Windows, Macintosh and Unix (Linux) formats. It detects the format of each text file automatically. Use EOL's graphical user interface to select a drive and folder. Select one or more files by clicking or using wild card (*?) names. Finally, select the desired text file format and click a button to convert the file(s). WARNING: Do NOT select files that are binary. EOL will damage binary files beyond repair. A very limited list of Windows binary files is those that end with .EXE, .DOC, .PDF, .JPG, .MPG, .DLL, .ZIP, as well as many others. You must not convert binary files with EOL.

  MecaRen allows renaming multiple files as plain text editing. Features include Numbered Filenames - Numbering generates an incremental sequence of filenames with specified parameters. Auto Replace - Replaces string sequences with others automatically on all files. Enter the strings to replace in the settings window. Auto replace button toggles auto replacement. File filtering - The file filter box in the main window shows only the files that contain the specified text. Tested only on XP but should work on other versions of windows.
